Bill Gates在某大学毕业典礼的演讲中，对毕业生提出十项极为睿智的人生建议，与毕业同学互勉：

RULE 1
Life is not fair - get used to it.
人生是不公平的，习惯接受吧。但如果你打算习惯一辈子，那人生是公平的。

RULE 2
The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feelgood about yourself.
这个世界并不在乎你的自尊，只在乎你做出来的成绩。有了成绩再去强调你的感受。

RULE 3
You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right outof high school. You won't be a vice president withcar phone, until you earn both.
你不会一离开学校就有百万年薪、你不会马上就是拥有公司配属车位的副总裁，二者都必须靠努力赚来。

RULE 4
If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get aboss. He doesn't have tenure.4.
如果你觉得你的老板很凶，等你做了老板就知道，老板是没有工作任期保障的。

RULE 5
Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping they called it Opportunity.
在速食店打工并不可耻，你的祖父母对煎汉堡有不同的看法，那没关系。重要的是你对未来的看法。

RULE 6
If you mess up,it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
如果你一事无成，不是你父母的错。不要对自己犯的错发牢骚，要在错误中学习正确之道。

RULE 7
Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring asthey are now. They got that way from paying your bills,cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk abouthow cool you are. So before you save the rain forestfrom the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
在你出生之前，你的父母并不像现在这般无趣，他们变成现在这样是因为忙着付你的开销，清洗你的衣服、听你吹嘘你有多了不起。所以在你拯救被父母这代人破坏的热带雨林之前，先整理一下自己的态度。

RULE 8
Your school may have done away with winners and losers,but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
学校里可能有蠃家有输家，人生路上却还言之过早。学校会不断给你机会，真实人生中却完全不是这麽回事。

RULE 9Life is not divided into semesters. You don't getsummers off and very few employers are interested inhelping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.
人生没有寒暑假。人生不是学期制，没有哪个雇主有兴趣帮你寻找自我，请用自己的时间来做这件事。

RULE 10
Television is NOT real life. In real life peopleactually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
电视上演的并非真实人生。现实生活中每人都要离开咖啡馆去创业。

Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working forone.
